There is nothing better than a road trip with great friends to adventure in new places! This time around we decided to venture deep in to the Arizona desert in search of the legendary Havasupai Falls…
On the road again…
The edge of the Grand Canyon.
Sunset soliloquy. The Grand Canyon sure is!
The beginning of our 10 mile hike through the desert. We drove in at 4AM after making a wrong turn on the way to the trailhead, and we set off on the trail at 5:30AM. No sleep is always a great way to start a journey through the desert!
Activate adventure! Our crew and our heavy ass packs. Good friends, good times!
Desert gateways.
Artist Kelly Halpin leading the way.
Artifacts of the future….
In-spire-ing.
On the edge of the realm.
The water in the canyon was crystal clear and always 70 degrees. Amazing!
Ancient waters frozen in time.
The Journey is the Reward.
We carried everything we needed for the 4 day trip. Lots of water, food, and sunscreen.
Night magic.
Setting up camp.
The boys stop to check out one of a series of amazing waterfalls.
You could definitely feel the power of this place.
Passing through ancient waterfalls to the next level.
Hey, stand up there on that rock for a second…
Geared up to get down.
Don’t look down.
Adventuring down river took us to more waterfalls.
Super fun jumping into this lil’ waterfall.
Sometimes I doubt your commitment to Sparklemotion.
The way in is the way out. Sketchy ladders.
Tools of the trade.
Early morning inspiration on the way back out. 10 miles, uphill this time!
Before the sun started to roast us on the way back. See ya Supai!
You’re almost there! The adventure continues.
Rocks.
Going out was easier than going in- never underestimate a good nights’ sleep.
Manny taking a break from the scorch slog.
The last push out of the canyon.
Most people that visit Havasupai have the local Indian tribe drag all their crap down to the campsites and back out again. Some even get their stuff heli lifted. For us, being self supported was just part of the fun.
The whole crew stoked to be back at the cars again. Boy my feet hurt!
I’m not sure why some people travel into pristine places and then decide to just throw their trash on the ground. I decided to be Futurepositiv and pick it up for them.
Blistered.
Hat rock.
Eyes of the desert.
My buddy owns Castle Creek Winery in Moab. Great food and amazing accomodations, not to mention the wine!
Rest day included an adventure to a fun swimming hole near Moab.
Dry yer stuff in the sun.
Natural infinity pools.
This part of the river was right at a major intersection for the ancient peoples of this area. The art they left on the walls is amazing!
Bird people and spirit dancers.
Ride the snake.
I dip you dip we dip.
Ancient aliens?
Flowing landscape.
Indian ladder to the stars. My feet hurt so bad I could barely walk at this point. I was super gripped going up this thing.
Copyright Pearl Jam 1993. Oh wait, that thing is 500 years old. Party on!
The Birthing Rock. Isn’t it creepy how Darth Vader is there? This art is hundreds of years old.
